Third Angle New Music presents Dies Irae, Desirée, a satirical exploration of fringe belief systems, cults and their mainstream appeal in the modern age. Experience this new multi-sensory chamber opera from Guest Creative Director Maria Finkelmeier with libretto by Portland-based writer Brady Evan Walker. 

At the heart of "Dies Irae, Desirée" is its protagonist, Desirée (sung by Sarah Beaty), a woman in her mid-40s who claims to be spiritually connected to an extraterrestrial entity named Tlön Drâm Pulöq. Desirée has founded The Kinship, a cult dedicated to preparing for a spiritual journey to the distant solar system of Elyrha. Desirée leads her eccentric band of followers through trials guided by prophecy, grappling with their deepest fears and desires in the pursuit of cosmic enlightenment.
