Together with pianist Susan McDaniel, the women of IM perform songs inspired by Greek lyric poet Sappho to highlight her enduring power as muse and poet, and honor a woman whose voice—sensual, vulnerable, and fiercely human—continues to echo across millennia. Featured will be music by Johannes Brahms, Undine Smith, Ildebrando Pizzetti, and John Blow, as well as the world premiere of The Sleep Wind by Portland-based composer, writer and sound engineer Charles Rose, winner of IM’s 2024 Call for Scores.
